WHAT IS THE PRACTICAL DIFFERENCE OF WYZAIRE'S PURVEN "PUSH" TECHNOLOGY FROM THE OTHER AIR CLEANERS' "PULL" TECHNOLOGY?

Wyzaire's Purven 3000 is a "Push" technology that uses the housing to launch friendly molecule technology to clean the air by deactivating mold spores, viruses and VOCs into your breathable indoor air.

Most other devices are "Pull" technologies that attempt to drag contaminate particulates into their housing to attempt to clean it or trap it.

HOW DOES PURVEN 3000 BY WYZAIRE PURIFY INDOOR AIR?

Friendly molecules are produce by a mineral reaction when the UV light shines on the mineral coated PCO cell. These molecules render harmful particulate matter in the breathable air harmless by deactivating them and converting them primarily into carbon dioxide and water vapor.

WHAT IS AIRBORNE PARTICULATE MATTER?

Airborne particulate matter includes many things such as dust, dirt, soot, smoke, and liquid droplets, bacteria, mold spores, viruses and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

I HAVE HEARD HEPA FILTERS ARE THE BEST FILTERS. DO HEPA FILTERS HAVE ANY LIMITATIONS?

HEPA filters are excellent filtration systems. However, they can only provide partial relief because they can only trap particulates that are 0.3 microns or larger, leaving the following in the air space: some bacteria, paint pigments, fertilizer dust and fumes, smelter dust and fumes, sulfuric acid mist and fumes, coal smoke, pulverized fly ash, atmospheric dust, Resin smoke, Tobacco smoke and carbon black are smaller than 0.03 microns. Also, they only trap contaminates; they do not deactivate the contaminates.

WHAT ABOUT VIRUSES, CAN HEPA FILTERS TRAP VIRUSES?

The EngineeringToolBox.com states that viruses can vary from 0.005 to 0.3 microns. Thus, a HEPA filter might be able to catch the largest of the viruses; however, they would still be viable. However, most of the viruses are smaller than 0.3 microns so the HEPA filters would not be able to trap them and the smallest are about 2% of the size of the HEPA filters smallest limitations.

I SEE THAT ALL FILTERS HAVE A MERV RATING; WHAT IS THE PURVEN 3000 MERV RATING?

The Purven 3000 is not a filter and does not trap anything; thus, MERV ratings do not apply to Purven 3000's PCO technology.

DOES WYAIRE'S PURVEN REQUIRE THE USE OF ANY OTHER TECHNOLOGIES LIKE A HEPA FILTER OR OZONE IN CONJUNCTION WITH ITS PCO TECHNOLOGY TO PURIFY THE AIR?

No. However, Ozone in conjunction with PCO can be an effective team. Wyzaire's Purven 3000 has an optional purification plate that will genereate Ozone controlled amounts of Ozone.

HOW MUCH POWER DOES IT TAKE TO OPERATE A PURVEN BY WYZAIRE UNIT?

Approximately 35 watts—that's less than a 40 watt light bulb!

WHO ELSE IS USING OR TESTING PCO TECHNOLOGY?

There are several major users or testing organizations of PCO technology including:

  • NASA has been using PCO technology on the International Space Station since 2004
  • RADIL, LLC tested efficacy of PCO technology to reduce the Murine Norovirus on surfaces. 99.6 to 99.9% reduction after 6 hours of exposure to PCO technology.
  • Kansas State University has tested PCO technology to reduce the most deadly forms of mold spores, bacteria and viruses from surfaces and airborne contamination by 96.4% to 99.8%

WHAT IS THE CORRECT PLACEMENT OF A PURVEN BY WYZAIRE UNIT TO MAXIMIZE RESULTS?

For best results, each unit should be placed a minimum of 3 feet off the floor, in a high traffic or air flow area, and approximately 6 inches should be maintained between the back of the unit and the wall behind it.
